I have been involved in our great game of Hockey for many years, coaching at many different levels from AA U7 to AAA U18. I also had the privilege of being the Head Instructor for the PHA Hockey School for four years as well as the Head Coach for the PHA for three years.
While achieving success in winning many championships and prestigious tournaments was very gratifying, my biggest enjoyment today is when I run into players who I coached over the years who stop me to shake hands and say ”coach remember that time”. Lasting memories that they can talk to their kids about and hopefully install the enjoyment in them that they achieved when they played.
My philosophy has always been to teach each player to improve their skill level in every aspect of the game. Many players have the talent and its not something major that might improve their game. A slight adjustment and a few minor things might be all that is needed to create that spark. Team wise, the Team must be a Team, being a tight group leads to success and a very enjoyable atmosphere. You want players to enjoy coming to practice, laughing, learning, working hard and creating that bond that is so important in a team game.
Systems will be taught so each player knows what the other is doing, game situation practice plays so players know how to react, fun competitive drills for every player’s enjoyment and lasting memories, that’s the goal.
Yours in Hockey
