MARIPOSA
MINOR HOCKEY ASSOCIATION
— Home Of The Lightning —

Sept 3 2025.

Welcome to the 2025/2026 season.

To all the returning and new Mariposa Lightning players, parents, families, coaches and volunteers.

On behalf of the Mariposa Minor Hockey Association (“MMHA”) administrative board members, we are thrilled to welcome you to the 2025–2026 hockey season for another exciting year on the ice and have you as part of our hockey family.

Each season brings new goals, new teammates, and new opportunities to grow—both as athletes and as individuals. Our mission remains the same: to foster a fun, safe, and inclusive environment where players of all skill levels can learn the game of hockey, develop life skills, and build lasting friendships.

We look to build from last season’s success, and our board has been busy over the summer planning for what should be a great 2025-2026 season. We have recently had a successful MMHA golf tournament in July as well as an equipment exchange in August. There is still some equipment available, if you are still on the search, please email [email protected].

Open borders in OMHA is certainly new (but not unexpected), so OMHA, Victoria-Durham, Three County, and the MMHA will monitor the impacts of open borders.

MMHA is happy to be offering teams at OMHA Rep B, B2 (second entry) and the 3C levels, and U16 Rep B, being a division on its own.  Some teams will play against non-traditional Victoria-Durham teams as well.

What to Expect This Season

Development Opportunities: Our administrative board and coaching staff is committed to player development at every level—focusing not just on performance, but on teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship. We are working on skill development planning and offerings, stay tuned for more information.

Community Events: MMHA is hosting three tournaments/jamborees this year.

Fall Faceoff (U11 B2 and U12 B2) Saturday, October 18

Battle of the Ice (U11LL - U18LL) Friday December 5 - Sunday December 7

Bob Walden Jamboree (U7) Saturday February 7

Watch for other association-wide activities that will bring our hockey community together.

Volunteers and Community spirit:  Our association runs thanks to the tireless work of volunteers. We welcome all parents and guardians to get involved—whether it's coaching, managing, timekeeping, or helping at events. Your support makes a big difference.  If you're interested in helping out—on or off the ice—we’d love to have you involved.

Safety, Code of Conduct & Respect:  As always, we encourage all players, parents, supporters, and coaches to uphold the values of safety, respect, fair play, and integrity and adhere to Hockey Canada, OMHA and MMHA guidelines. Let’s set the tone for a supportive and positive season.

Stay Connected:

Rep B tryouts/evaluations were completed in the spring.  We get underway this evening and in September with u9MD, U11 B2, U13 B2 prep skates and evaluations along with team practices for all.

Please check the website at www.mariposaminorhockey.com  regularly for updates, schedules, and news. You can also follow us on social media (Facebook @Mariposa Minor Hockey and Instagram @mariposa_minor_hockey) for the latest from around the association.

Please ensure participants arrive in a timely fashion so that they are prepared to go on the ice and have their water bottle.  Also a reminder that as per OMHA, all players must arrive already wearing their base layer. A separate dressing room for girls can also be provided by requesting it from the arena staff.

We are looking forward to seeing full rinks, bright smiles, and the sound of skates carving ice as we get underway. Here's to a safe, successful, and memorable 2025–2026 season!
